Clematis columbiana [C. occidentalis] - one of the few trailing vines found in the Rockies. It drapes itself over shrubs and herbs and around the trunks of trees. (Source: Wildflowers of the Canadian Rockies by George W.Scotter and Halle Flygare). This lovely specimen was discovered whilst roaming around the shore path at Emerald Lake in early June.
