Flora

Priarie Smoke - Geum triflorum - is a common perennial from dry grasslands to subalpine meadows. Various part of the plant were used by Indians as a treatment for swollen eyes, as perfume, and as a tonic. (Source: Wildflowers of the Canadian Rockies by George W.Scotter and Halle Flygare). These erect stalks will become feathery plumes releasing their seeds into the wind.
